The cover of The Runemaster, published in September 2015 by PJ Triplow.

Welcome to the Blood of Woden Weblog - your inside track for all things godly, adventurous and generally jawdropping.

Through these posts, your author will introduce you to the mindblowing folklore that inspired this series of books, to the fascinating world of Dark-Age Britain and to the roots and hidden history of the English language.

To make it easier to find what you want, blogs will be posted under a number of categories:

Inspiration - the people, concepts and places that inspired the series

Characters - frank and candid interviews with the characters from the books

History - snippets and insight into the roots of modern Britain

English - the core of Old English in the words we use today

Folklore - our heathen heritage and where to find it today

Audio - a weekly serialisation of a chapter from the series

Please feel free to leave feedback on anything you see here.  If you have questions, please jot them down in a comment and your author will do his best to respond.

The Cover

The picture that accompanies this post is the cover created for the jacket of The Runemaster.  It shows the book's main protagonist in a scene from chapter thirteen.  The scene portrayed is not described word for word in the book, but you can work out fairly easily where it slots in.

The painting is an original piece by Midland-based artist, Luke Lightwood.  It was painted from a photograph taken specially for this project.  The cover model was not harmed in any way during this photoshoot: the 'cuts' on his arm were drawn with felt-tip pen and the 'bandage' was a watch.   Sleep easy.
